Oregon's oldest continuously operating bar on the coast since 1927 — a beloved gathering place for locals and travelers in Lincoln City's historic Taft District, just steps from Siletz Bay and the Pacific Ocean.
Snug Harbor Bar & Grill — known affectionately as "The Snug" — was established in 1927 and is the oldest continuously operating bar on the Oregon Coast. Located in the historic Taft District of Lincoln City, it sits along Coast Highway 101, within walking distance of both the Pacific Ocean and the scenic Siletz Bay.
The interior tells the story of nearly a century of coastal life: walls adorned with years of memorabilia, all of the interior wood crafted from recycled timber recovered from the nearby Siletz River and refinished on site. The bar cat Jack Henry has become a beloved local character, and the upstairs deck offers views over the Taft District.
Current owner Leslie has run The Snug for over 22 years, welcoming regulars and visitors from around the world. Bartenders like Susie and Chris know the regulars by name, share the history of the tavern, and make every stranger feel like a neighbor. As the saying goes: you may not know anyone when you walk in, but you'll have a room full of new friends by the time you leave.

The clam chowder blew me away with its rich, creamy broth and generous clams, and the Philly cheesesteak was packed with flavor and perfectly hot. The laid-back, welcoming vibe combined with great service and delicious food keeps me coming back, even though I live an hour and a half away.
— Rebekah L. MenuPix, May 2025BEST CLAM CHOWDER IN TOWN, WE FOUND IT! Great food, amazing prices and the best damned clam chowder in this town. I was lucky enough to try their Cajun mac and cheese, burgers, and breakfast sandwich, and was impressed with all.

— Wheree ReviewerSnug Harbor located in Taft, Oregon along the Coast Highway 101, was established in 1927 and is currently the oldest roadside tavern in the State of Oregon. The current owner of 22 years, Leslie, was on hand greeting customers. Snug Harbor is a great little tavern with a nice rustic flare. When traveling through, I recommend stopping in for a meal and an adult beverage.
— Restaurant Guru ReviewerI stopped in for breakfast and a Bloody Mary and was pleasantly surprised. The breakfast was delicious, they have awesome sausage gravy, and they let me try the chowder — it was great. The Bloody Mary was wonderful, not too spicy, just right. Add friendly service and I was very happy.
— Restaurant Guru ReviewerA perfect bar — how they're supposed to be on the coast. Great people, great music, great bar. This bar has the best fries on the Oregon coast in my perception. Great flaming chowder and friendly service. Love the wood interior and glass ornaments above the bar.
